About

I'm Todd, a software engineer in Austin.

Background

I'm a senior software engineer at a Fortune 500 company, where I build and maintain systems in Node and TypeScript. Before that I was at Khoros, working on distributed cloud infrastructure — Lambda, DynamoDB, EventBridge, Kinesis — the kind of systems where reliability isn't optional.

Outside of that I build software for businesses around Austin, and I build my own products. RadioWash is the current one.

Why this exists

Small businesses get two options for software. They can hire a web shop that assembles templates, which works right up until they need something the template can't do. Or they can hire an agency that quotes six figures and staffs the project with people three years out of school.

There's a lot of room in between. Most businesses need a good website and one or two pieces of software that fit how they actually work. That's a solvable problem, and it doesn't require a team of fifteen.

How I work

You work with me. I do the architecture, I write the code, and I'm the person you talk to. Nothing is handed off to a junior team or a subcontractor.

I'd rather tell you a project is a bad idea than take the money. If off-the-shelf software solves your problem, I'll say so.

I write things down — scopes, estimates, decisions. You should never be guessing what you're paying for or when it'll be done.

Austin

I'm based here and I work with businesses across Central Texas. For local clients that means I can sit in your office and watch how your team actually works, which is worth more than any number of discovery calls.
